The top three on the list consist of Mississippi, Louisiana and Illinois. Among the safest places are South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming, with no officer deaths. Missouri has the sixth highest number of officer deaths – 5.
“I’m surprised we’re as high as we are,” Marc said, “but I’m also saddened by it.”
