Missouri AG Bailey calls Gardner resignation 'huge win for public safety'

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is celebrating the resignation of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.

"This is a huge win for public safety," Bailey tells The Marc Cox Morning Show.

Bailey took legal action to remove Gardner from office in February. While, earlier this week, the Attorney General accused the Circuit Attorney of neglecting her duties as a prosecutor when it was revealed Gardner was enrolled in nursing classes at St. Louis University.

In a letter to Governor Mike Parson, released by Gardner's office, Gardner said she will step aside effective June 1.

"Until she’s physically gone from that office she remains a public safety threat to St. Louis," says Bailey.

Jeff Roorda, former head of the St. Louis Police Officers Association, says the real winners are crime victims and their families:
