A recent study from YouGov found that 66% of people say they turn on TV subtitles “at least occasionally,” usually for “Enhanced comprehension" and “to help understand accents,” though 13% of folks ALWAYS have their subtitles on!
According to the study, more often than those that don’t like using subtitles don’t like them because “They're distracting and don't always match the words being spoken…they move too fast or slow . . . they can clutter the screen . . . and they're ‘inconvenient to turn on.’”
On a completely unrelated note, the survey also found that 8% of folks think today's movies and shows don't have enough sexy scenes.
