‘Tis the season for the giving of gifts, but thanks to an episode of the 90s sitcom Seinfeld, it can also be the season for the airing of grievances for some, and perhaps that was the catalyst for a new poll from Wish.com.
According to the survey, 72% of Americans have been baffled by a gift in the past, something they considered either “disappointing” or just plain “weird.”
These respondents say the gift was so confusing, they didn’t understand why it was given in the first place.
Of those who answered the survey, 40% said they actually felt insulted by a present in the past, and almost 25% said the gift in question led to an argument.

However, in the spirit of the season, those arguments seem to be rare, even in the face of befuddling generosity. Almost 80% said they can at least fake excitement well enough to get through what could be an awkward encounter.
Perhaps the good news is that, no matter how terrible any of your gifts might be, you only have to wait a week to leave them behind in 2022.
