Another round of layoffs is coming at global internet retail giant Amazon.
CEO Andy Jassy told employees on Wednesday that the company would begin laying off workers on January 18, with 18,000 jobs eventually getting eliminated.
“In November, we communicated the hard decision to eliminate a number of positions across our Devices and Books businesses, and also announced a voluntary reduction offer for some employees in our People, Experience, and Technology (PXT) organization,” Jassy said in a release.
“I also shared that we weren’t done with our annual planning process and that I expected there would be more role reductions in early 2023,” he added.

The layoffs will mostly affect human resources and retail location employees and will trim about 6% of the company’s corporate workforce.
Warehouse workers will not be included in this round of layoffs.
