Laptop causes fire on international flight; prompts emergency landing at O’Hare

A fire prompted a Lufthansa plane flying from California to Germany to make an emergency landing at O'Hare Airport Monday night.

The airline reported that a passenger’s laptop overheated and caught fire.

Lufthansa said the fire was small and was extinguished before the plane made its unscheduled landing at O’Hare.

No passengers were injured, though two flight attendants were treated for smoke inhalation by the Chicago Fire Department.

Passengers were being rebooked, according to the airline.

The airline says it regrets the inconvenience and added that safety was not compromised.
