Marc Cox spoke with Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft this morning about the new voting laws in Missouri and the importance of Voter ID's. While doing so, Marc asked Ashcroft about the lawsuit against the initiative petition for legalized recreational marijuana. Ashcroft explained that there was upset over him double checking the petition to make sure all of the votes were valid, and an allegation that it was improper of him to double check the work of local election authorities. Ashcroft explained that he has faith in local election authority and knows they were doing the best that they can, but that they were dealing with redistricting and preparing for elections along with the petition. Overall, the petition did in fact receive enough votes for recreational marijuana to be on the Missouri ballot. Ashcroft also comments on election integrity and how to get a proper photo ID for the upcoming elections in November.
