The Missouri House passed SB35 in the final minutes of the 2023 legislative session. The legislation dictates, "There shall be a rebuttable presumption that an award of equal or approximately equal parenting time to each parent is in the best interests of the child."
Mark Ludwig, the Executive Director at Americans for Equal Shared Parenting explains, "The premise is every child needs both parents in their lives as long as their fit, willing and able."
Ludwig shares how his experience motivated him to impact change across the nation and credits Missouri Representative Jim Murphy for getting the legislation across the finish line.
"We need both parents to love their child more than they hate their ex."
