OPINION: State Representative Mary Elizabeth Coleman: 'There’s no question that this is a real draft opinion'

A draft opinion leak reveals that the Supreme Court has voted to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, which granted constitutional protections of abortion rights. The initial draft majority opinion, labeled as the “Opinion of the Court" was written by Justice Samuel Alito and condemns the Court’s original decision about abortion rights, as well as a subsequent decision in 1992; the Planned Parenthood v. Casey case. The draft may have been publicized through unofficial means, but even so, it appears to be legitimate and therefore is subject to change.

“There’s no question that this is a real draft opinion that was written in February,” says Missouri State Representative Mary Elizabeth Coleman. “And first drafts can and do change. They can change right up until the time that they’re published.”

An investigation is underway to find out how the draft got leaked, but Representative Coleman claims that, “This has really only been leaked… to intimidate the Court into backing off of their decision.”

Mary Elizabeth Coleman joins the Marc Cox Morning Show to talk the big news of the day.

“The Court has the real honesty to say [Rowe] was a bad decision, all of the cases after have been a bad decision. It’s an incredible day.”
