LISTEN: Gov. Parson 'disappointed' by direction of Missouri's Republican party

Missouri Governor Mike Parson joined The Marc Cox Morning Show with pointed reaction to his fellow party members in the Missouri Senate who rejected his nominee to head the state's Department of Health and Senior Services. Don Kauerauf had been the interim director since September 1, but the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee had until February 4 to approve the appointment.

"It was disappointing for me as a Repusblican governor, I think the road we're starting to go down is a road I'm not a big fan of, to be honest about it. What we're doing now is a lot of interfighting in a lot of different areas," said Parson.

Parson said the protestors in the State Capitol against Kauerauf were noticible, "there were people holding up signs that he was a Nazi, calling his staff Nazis. There were signs calling me a communist."

"Those kind of actions does not do us any good, it was a disappointing day for me," says Parson.

Parson is paying attention to the congressional re-districting battle playing out in the General Assembly.

"The maps are very divided across the state, and frankly divided with the party," says Parson about the proposed congressional re-districting maps. "At the end of the day I want a good Republican map."
