
A transgender woman made history over the weekend when she was named Miss Netherlands 2023. Rikkie Valerie Kollé, 23 of Breda, Netherlands, shared photos of the competition on Instagram captioned, "I DID IT !!!!!"
Transgender contestants have been able to compete since 2012. At the time, former President Donald Trump was involved with pageant decision-making.
The first transgender woman to compete was Angela Ponce in 2018.
