As we wait for playoff runs and championships to return to Detroit, we all want to know: who's this town's next superstar?

"If I had to guess in the four sports," says Gator, "I’m ruling out the Red Wings, even though I think Mo Seider’s great. I would rule out the Pistons, but they have potential. I would rule out the Tigers right now because as excited as I am about the early stages of Riley Greene's career, it’s not superstar. So I’m looking at the Lions. One year into the league, I would say Aidan Hutchinson is the one trending in that direction."

A fair assessment. Now here's ESPN NFL analyst and former NFL exec Louis Riddick's assessment: "Jahmyr Gibbs is a freaking superstar."

Riddick raved about Gibbs during an appearance this week on the Rich Eisen Show, noting there were teams in the draft who had the 12th overall pick ranked above fellow running back Bijan Robinson, who went 8th overall to the Falcons.

"Watch the tape, man," said Riddick. "He can go. He can do it all. In today’s game, it’s a lateral as well as a vertical game and he can play both games however you want to do it. You want me to go downhill, i’ll go downhill. You want me to go side to side and juke some people out and make them look silly in space, I'll do it. You want me to attack them out of the backfield, I'll do it. Whatever you need me to do, I can do it, and I can do it with home run capability. That’s today’s game."

"I’m not there yet," says Gator. "I certainly want to see him play and see how he looks against NFL competition. I have high hopes for Jahmyr Gibbs, and I think you should for someone drafted 12th overall. I think it’s interesting how effusive in his praise (Riddick) was."
