Is Drew Brees one-and-done with NBC Sports?

The former Saints star quarterback turned NFL analyst could be on the move after just one year with the network, according to a report, amid an expected industry-wide shakeup that will see several top announcers starting anew in 2022.
A new bombshell report by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post said longtime FOX Sports analyst Troy Aikman was on the verge of a deal to join the "Monday Night Football" booth on ESPN.
The prospective move would leave FOX in need of a new lead analyst, with Marchand citing several household names as candidates to fill the void -- including Brees, who would have to be released or perhaps "traded" by NBC, as well as former Saints head coach Sean Payton.
Other candidates to replace Aikman at FOX include former Bears and Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, as well as Rams head coach Sean McVay, per Marchand. Prior reports have indicated McVay, fresh off a win in Super Bowl LVI, might be interested in stepping away from the sidelines and into the booth.

Brees changing networks after just one season would mark something of a stunning development, after he was said to be hotly pursued by at least a couple networks following his retirement as a player after the 2020 campaign.
However, the 43-year-old Texas native earned decidedly mixed reviews in his first season as a broadcaster. Noted hot take purveyor Bill Simmons famously slammed Brees' analysis, saying he was like a "corpse."
