We’re still a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving, but if you haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet you risk falling behind everybody else.

While a lot of folks will opt to scour for Black Friday deals, a large group of parents will be looking towards another source to save a couple bucks this holiday shopping season.

According to PR Newswire, an OfferUp poll found that 78% of Americans will be doing their Christmas shopping on Craigslist this year in order to save some cash.

That equates to 259 million Americans who will look to buy pre-owned gifts this holiday season to avoid the rising cost of items at retail stores.

51% of those surveyed say inflation is a driving factor in their willingness to purchase pre-owned holiday gifts, followed by the need to find out-of-stock gifts (29%), and avoid shipping delays (27%).

75% of Americans say giving pre-owned gifts has become more “socially acceptable,” and 86% say they're "likely" to buy used gifts, or at the very least price-check a gift on re-sale websites before buying it new at the retail price.
