A couple’s first experience at Buc-ee’s was a little less than ideal, after the store forced them to leave the premises because of their vehicle.

April and Dawn Thompson sold their home and became full-time truckers in 2022.  They just finished a load drop off in the Houston-area when they saw a Buc-ee’s.

They had never been before, and decided to check it out.  Unfortunately, Buc-ee’s has a strict policy about no 180-wheelers in their parking lot, and because that’s what the Thompsons were driving in at the time, they were asked to leave.

Dawn told MySanAntonio.com that two Buc-ee’s employees approached her while she was shopping and informed her that she would need to leave the property.

“We were seriously just taking in the atmosphere. They approached us and asked my husband if it was his truck.  'You are not allowed to purchase anything here, you have to leave now,' and I was still holding my items that they were telling me I'm not allowed to buy."

Dawn voiced her frustration on Facebook, saying that their truck only took up two parking spaces, and that she witnessed RVs and trucks with trailers in the parking lot taking up “rows of parking spots.”

Dawn says she reached out to the company twice since the incident and has yet to hear anything from Buc-ee's corporate office.

Buc-ee's general counsel Jeff Nadalo explained that the company's parking lots and driveways “aren't designed to accommodate truckers,” and that they're made for “passenger vehicles.”
