Over Super Bowl Weekend, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile’s catalytic converter was stolen while it was parked in Las Vegas for an event.
Catalytic converters are a hot item right now, and though Oscar Mayer probably doesn’t need any help affording a replacement, one organization has stepped into to offer their services…for a price.

PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment for Animals, has offered to not only purchase a replacement catalytic converter for the Wienermobile, but cover maintenance for the vehicle as well, as long as Oscar Mayer promises to convert the Wienermobile into a “vegan hot dog” mobile.
In a letter sent to Carlos Abrams-Rivera, Executive Vice President and President of The Kraft Heinz Company last Thursday, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk suggested that since Oscar Mayer is planning on developing vegan hot dogs, why not convert the Wienermobile into to a NotDog mobile, or “something similar.”
Per Fox News, Newkirk also noted that her recommendation comes at a time when demand for vegan hot dogs is rising, adding that the global market for plant-based hot dogs grew by 20% last year and is projected to reach a market value of $1.99 billion by 2032.
Newkirk added, “Instead of slinging cancer-causing processed meat made from cows’ livers and pigs’ snouts, the Oscar Mayer NotDogMobile would dish up the delicious veggie dogs that today’s diners want.
“PETA would relish the opportunity to help Oscar Mayer ketchup with the booming vegan food market."
Abrams-Rivera, Kraft Heinz and Oscar Mayer have yet to respond to the offer.
