This is a momentous occasion in Dallas Fort Worth history, one of the most important anniversaries in North Texas' illustrious history.
Exactly one year ago yesterday, the Grand Prairie cobra escaped from his enclosure and sent terror into the hearts of North Texas.

The six-foot long venomous snake escaped from his home August 3, 2021, only to never be seen again.
The snake’s 23-year-old Lawrence Matl apologized at the time, but was arrested this past February for violating the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s release from captivity code, a misdemeanor.
Matl has since left Grand Prairie, and many experts believe the snake may have done something similar, but there’s a chance he’s still in the area…maybe in your house…waiting to strike.
Randall Kennedy, who owns Dallas Fort Worth Wildlife Control, told the Dallas News, “There is absolutely no reason to think this snake is dead. He could just be curled up in someone’s attic or crawl space.”
