The Los Angeles Dodgers just defeated the New York Yankees in five games to claim their first title since 2020, and it shouldn’t be much of a shock to anyone that they managed to do it. The Dodgers were consensus favorites pretty much all season to win the title, with some of the biggest superstars in the sport playing for them and their billion dollar payroll. The Yankees were also among the top five teams in terms of preseason odds to win the World Series in 2024, so this matchup was a very obvious one going by the odds. As we know, that isn’t always the case, with the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks meeting the year prior, which was a very unforeseen matchup.
Now that the 2024 season is in the books, it is never too early to at least take a look at who is favored to win the 2025 World Series, and if there is any value on the board. These odds are certain to change as the offseason gets underway and players are signed and traded elsewhere, but I always like to know where the early market stands and how much a certain player might drop those odds.

If you take a look at these teams, you’ll be quite familiar with all of them, considering they all made the playoffs this season outside of the last two teams. It is quite interesting that both the Seattle Mariners and Rangers have better odds than some playoff teams from this season like the Cleveland Guardians and Kansas City Royals, who are 28/1 and 30/1 respectively. The Milwaukee Brewers are 35/1 to win it, and the Detroit Tigers are 40/1, to round off this year’s playoff teams.
I haven’t made a wager yet, as I want to see what these teams do in the offseason, but I also like seeing the early odds and what bookmakers think of some of these teams after this postseason.
