As the NBA season heats up, Monday, January 27, brings exciting matchups for bettors and fans alike. From the Houston Rockets seeking road redemption against the Boston Celtics to a high-paced Grizzlies-Knicks showdown at Madison Square Garden, the action is set to deliver value for savvy bettors. Whether you're targeting the spread or the total, we've got the data and analysis to back up these plays. Here’s why Rockets +6.5 and Grizzlies-Knicks Over 240.5 stand out as Monday’s best bets!
Rockets +6.5 at Celtics (-110, BetMGM)
The Celtics are coming off a win, but that has not been a positive for the reigning champs; they’ve gone just 18-13 SU and a horrendous 6-24-1 ATS (20%, 2nd-worst) after a win this season. Meanwhile, the Rockets have gone 15-6 SU (4th-best) and 14-6-1 ATS (best) on the road this year and will be seeking revenge on a 23-point loss to the C’s on their home court on January 3. The Rockets rank 6th in Net Rating this season while the Celtics rank 3rd and I consider both teams as title contenders who can take over games on both ends of the floor. In my opinion, this is simply too many points to pass up on.
Grizzlies at Knicks Over 240.5 (-110, BetMGM)
The Grizzlies have gone 17-5 to the O/U on the road (77.3% over hit rate - most in NBA) and 12-3 to the O/U as an underdog this season (2nd-highest hit rate), while playing at the fastest Pace. On the season, the Knicks own the 2nd-best Offensive Rating while the Grizzlies own the 5th-best, including the best in the month of January. This month, Memphis (20th in Defensive Rating) and New York (23rd) have both struggled on the defensive end, too, thus setting up the perfect storm for a bunch of points tonight. You may be concerned about how high of a total this is, but I’m not at all based on what we’ve seen so far this year.
