NBA Player Prop Picks for Thursday, January 2 Ft. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Top prop bets for Thursday’s NBA action, including picks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Toumani Camara, and Dennis Schroder.

As the NBA season heats up, player props offer some of the best opportunities for bettors to find value in matchups. Thursday’s slate brings intriguing storylines and exciting plays, highlighted by Giannis Antetokounmpo’s continued dominance, Toumani Camara’s rebounding prowess, and Dennis Schroder’s struggles to fit with the Warriors. Whether you’re looking for solid favorites or enticing plus-money odds, these player prop bets for January 2 could help you cash in. Let’s dive into the picks and break down why each bet stands out.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 40.5 Points + Rebounds vs. Nets (-115, BetMGM)

Giannis has gone over this mark in eight consecutive starts, averaging 31.9 points (19.1 field goal attempts) and 10.9 rebounds (on 16.9 rebounding chances). He dropped 34 points on 14-of-22 shooting with 11 boards (on 19 rebounding chances) back on December 8 against the Nets and should continue to thrive in this matchup. Brooklyn owns the 3rd-worst rebounding rate in the NBA, ranks 25th in Defensive Rating and, most importantly, doesn’t have a single player that can check the Greek Freak. Antetokounmpo has gone over this mark in 12 of his last 13 games played, so even though he’s been dealing with some nagging injuries, he’s been utterly dominant when he’s been on the floor.

Trail Blazers SF Toumani Camara Over 5.5 Rebounds vs. Lakers (+120, BetMGM)

Camara has gone over this mark eight consecutive times, averaging 8.0 boards on 13.0 rebounding chances per game across 32.6 minutes per game in that span. That included a six-rebound effort (on 10 rebounding chances) against this Lakers team in that eight-game streak. During that set of games, only Deandre Ayton (11.9 rebounds, 19.4 rebounding chances) has averaged more boards and rebounding chances than Camara on this Blazers roster and I absolutely love this number at plus-money tonight.

Warriors PG Dennis Schroder Under 5.5 Assists vs. 76ers (+105, BetMGM)

Since joining the 76ers, Schroder hasn’t gone over this mark (in seven games). Brandin Podziemski will be out tonight, Draymond Green is probable and Steph Curry is questionable, but I expect him to suit up. If he doesn’t, this becomes a riskier play, but it’s clear that Schroder hasn’t exactly fit in well since getting traded to Golden State. Averaging just 3.9 assists per contest (4.4 adjusted assists per game), Schroder’s past against the Sixers (seven, eight, six, 10 and 10 assists in his last five games), is likely one of the reasons for this line being 5.5 instead of 4.5, but keep in mind that he was in dramatically different situations on the Nets and Raptors for those contests.
