Staff Betting Picks For Friday, December 13

The BetQL Editorial Staff breaks down top picks, including NBA and NFL bets

It’s Friday, which means we are on the precipice of another big weekend in the NFL and a night of basketball in both college and the NBA.

And the BetQL staff has found some best bets for tonight, including an NBA player prop, and for this weekend’s football slate.

Dan Karpuc: Hornets PG Vasilije Micic 10+ Alt Assists vs. Bulls (+270, FanDuel)

Filling in for the injured LaMelo Ball, Micic gets the best possible matchup for an opposing point guard (Chicago has allowed an NBA-high 11.2 assists per game to the position) and has racked up 12, seven and nine assists over his last three games. For context, that 9.3 average was the 6th-best in the NBA in that span, as was his 15.3 potential assists in that trio of contests. Elite. Playing 35, 35 and 34 minutes, I’m not worried about him getting benched, either, in what should be a shootout. The Hornets are a 5.5-point underdog, this game has a hefty 231.5-point total, and this is a huge pace-up spot for the Hornets, who play at the NBA’s 4th-slowest pace while the Bulls play at the fastest pace in the Association. Chicago ranks 2nd-worst in Defensive Rating and has allowed a whopping 29.5 total assists per game to their opponents, 2nd-highest in the league. I took over 6.5 assists as one of my player prop picks of the day, but let’s get a little more risky and target this at +270.

Lucy Burdge: Panthers -2.5 vs. the Cowboys

The Panthers have covered in their last five games including against the Buccaneers, Eagles and Chiefs in their last three games and at home they have covered their last four spreads. And on the road, the Cowboys have not covered three of their last five. So I like the Panthers to cover in this one.

Matt Horner: Nebraska -4 vs. Indiana (-109, BetRivers)

If you follow me on X, I posted last night to take the Huskers at -2.5 because this line was going to go up, and look at what we have here. It’s now at -4 or -4.5 in the market. This is starting to get into the “risky” territory for me at this number, but it’s still worth something. If you want to take Nebraska ML and combine it with something else, like a -300 or so favorite in a CFB game, that gets you +100 odds at most books. Just another way to play if you aren’t comfortable laying 4. The Hoosiers have won four straight and are 8-2 on the year, and now will face a Huskers team that is 6-2 coming off a blowout loss to Michigan State. So why are they sizable favorites? Because they are going to win the game.
