The Celtics have wasted no time picking up right where they left off last season— as NBA Champions. Boston has looked every bit the part of a championship-caliber team in its first four games, jumping out to a commanding 4-0 start. Not only has it won every game, but it’s been unstoppable thus far, with three of those wins coming by double digits.
With nearly the entire roster returning, the Celtics are firing on all cylinders. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are already playing at an elite level, spearheading an offense and defense that is as balanced as they come. With so much talent packed into Joe Mazzula’s roster, it’s no surprise they opened the season as the favorite to repeat as Eastern Conference and NBA champions.
Boston’s championship odds were set at +325 at BetMGM before the season opener and have already shifted to +300 after just four games. They currently lead in both ticket percentage (18.0%) and handle percentage (21.8%) for NBA Championship bets by a large margin, with the next closest teams being the Nuggets at 10.4% in ticket percentage and the Thunder at 11.4% in handle percentage.
The story is similar in the Eastern Conference title race, where Boston’s odds have shrunk from +170 last week to +140 as of October 30. They command an impressive 33.1% of the tickets and a staggering 55.9% of the handle, making them BetMGM’s biggest liability in the East. The Knicks follow, but distantly, with 15.9% of the tickets and 14.2% of the handle.
Boston's hot start and surging odds make them the clear favorites in early-season betting, proving that this championship squad has every intention of repeating last season’s success.
