Week 2 of the college football season is here, and the BetQL model has pinpointed three standout betting opportunities to help you cash in. Whether you're looking for a dominant performance from a powerhouse like Ohio State, an upset play with Pittsburgh, or a low-scoring grind in the Temple-Navy matchup, the model has you covered. With each pick backed by a 5-star rating, there’s serious value on the board this weekend. Let’s dive into the top plays and why the BetQL model sees an edge in each one.
#2 Ohio State -38 vs. Western Michigan
The Buckeyes had a tougher time last week than many might have expected against Akron in the first half, leading by just two touchdowns at halftime. After that, they seemed to get into their groove and gel a lot better, scoring 34 points in the second half alone and blowing out the Zips 52-6 when all was said and done.
Western Michigan put up a great fight against Wisconsin last week, losing 28-14, but the final score doesn’t really do the Broncos justice. They played tough and were in the game the entire time against a Big Ten opponent, which was good practice for the type of challenge they are going to have to face this week.
However, the model thinks it will be a blowout. It has Ohio State favored by -46.5 points, which is a -8.5 point difference from the current line. That is over a touchdown difference, so clearly, we have this as a 5-star play.
Pittsburgh ML at Cincinnati (+110)
The model shows an advantage here with the underdog. Pittsburgh blew out Kent State last week in a 55-24 whipping, where new QB Eli Holstein threw for 333 yards and 3 TD’s. Cincinnati presents a much bigger challenge, but that was a fine tune up game for the offense.
The Bearcats ended up winning their game by a decent margin, 38-20 over lowly Towson, but the game was far closer than it should have been. Cincy was a massive 33.5-point favorite coming into the contest, and they didn’t even sniff a cover. QB Brendan Sorsby threw for 383 yards and two scores, so he wasn’t the problem, but the defense probably shouldn’t be letting up 20 to that team.
The BetQL model loves getting +110 on the Panthers here. It has Pittsburgh at -197, which is a 107 point difference from the current line. If we have them at nearly -200 to win this game, we’ll certainly take the plus-money on Pittsburgh to win this game.
Temple at Navy Under 43
Temple has one of the worst offenses I have ever seen. In fact, their first half team total against Oklahoma last weekend was 0.5. Yes, that was their TEAM TOTAL for the first half of the game. They also didn’t hit the over, getting shut out in the first half 34-0. They ended up losing the game 51-3, with their kicker hitting a 49-yard field goal in the third quarter down 37-0. It was disgusting to watch them play football.
Navy is also well known for not being an offensive powerhouse. They run the triple option run game, and pass the ball very little. They did put up 49 points last week against a terrible Bucknell team, but somehow, their QB had just 108 yards for the entire game. Their leading rusher had just 82 yards, not even cracking 100. The Midshipmen win games in the strangest ways.
The BetQL model would love to take the under in this game. It has the total at 32 points, which is a -11 point difference from the current total. Yup, that is certainly enough to make this a 5-star play from the model.
