Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley appeared to be in a two-horse race for the 2024 NFL MVP award ahead of Week 14, but the odds have only gotten more lopsided ahead of Week 15. The odds-on favorite is gaining ground on the rest of the field despite suffering a loss in his latest performance. Is Allen winning his first MVP a forgone conclusion at this point? Let’s take a look at the numbers.

Allen entered Week 14 as a -225 favorite at BetMGM before suffering a 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. While the Bills did taste defeat, Allen put together a masterpiece of a performance. He threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns while running for 82 yards and three touchdowns. Allen became the first player in NFL history to throw for three touchdowns and rush for three touchdowns in the same game. Allen’s ranks sixth in passing touchdowns (23), 11th in passing yards (3,033) and his MVP odds improved to -450 after his latest outing. However, he’ll still face challenges in the back half of the season.

The Bills will face the Detroit Lions (12-1) at Ford Field in Week 15. They’ll also face a New York Jets (3-10) squad that they edged out by three points in October in their second-to-last game of the regular season. Buffalo seems like a lock to win the AFC East, but losing three of his final five games could cause his MVP odds to take a hit.

Saquon Barkley saw his odds drop from +300 to +400 at BetMGM after rushing for 124 yards in a win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 14. He leads the NFL with 1,623 rushing yards and only four players can top his mark of 11 rushing touchdowns on the year. There’s still value in betting on Barkley to claim the largely quarterback-dominated award if he eclipses 2,000 rushing yards on the ground and the Eagles win out to finish the year 15-2. He’ll need some help from Allen to make that happen, though.
