Following a 41-24 loss to the Bengals, the Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) have shaken up their coaching staff, including parting ways with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. With a struggling offense and a defense allowing over 27 points per game, bettors now face a new landscape with the Raiders. Here’s how these changes might impact betting opportunities for the remainder of the season, including point totals and spread insights for Week 11 and beyond.
By the Numbers
The Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) made some major changes after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals 41-24 in Week 9. Las Vegas let go of three coaches, including offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, offensive line coach James Cregg, and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello. The Raiders’ offense has been subpar all around and their offensive rankings are representative of their struggles.
Only seven teams have scored fewer points (168) than Las Vegas this season and three of those squads have played one fewer game. The Raiders’ 24th ranked scoring offense is averaging 18.7 points per contest. It has totaled just nine passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the year between three quarterbacks.
Las Vegas is even worse on the ground, though. The Raiders are averaging a league-low 76.9 rushing yards per game and only the Dallas Cowboys have less yardage on the ground.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, longtime head coach and offensive coordinator Norv Turner is coming out of retirement to become part of the Raiders’ revamped offensive staff. He’ll join his son Scott, who’s served as a pass game coordinator for Las Vegas since 2023. It’s too early to determine how much of an impact the duo can make, but we can take a look at point totals.
How to Bet the Raiders in Week 11 and Beyond
The Raiders have been up and down against the spread in 2024 and have covered four times in nine games ahead of their bye in Week 10. That will give them time to sort out their offensive struggles before visiting Miami in Week 11. Point total bettors who think Las Vegas can get its offense back on track should have faith on the over for that matchup.
The total has gone over in six of the Raiders games this season. Their offense has been stagnant but they’ve given up more points (253) than every team but the Carolina Panthers (293) and Jacksonville Jaguars (252). Opposing teams are posting 27.9 points per game against the Raiders in 2024 and the Dolphins have a high-octane offense that’s been doing its best to start firing on all cylinders with Tua Tagovailoa healthy again.
Miami could easily run up the score on Las Vegas and the Raiders will face a pair of top-10 scoring offenses in the following weeks. They’ll face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14. Keep an eye on the point totals on those matchups, as overs seem likely to hit in the back half of the season.
