Week 5 of the NFL season is here, and the Kansas City Chiefs continue to reign supreme, followed closely by the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. With early surprises like the Texans and Buccaneers making waves, and the 49ers and Packers battling slow starts, let’s dive into the latest rankings and see where every team stands.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)

2. Minnesota Vikings (4-0)

3. Detroit Lions (3-1)

4. Seattle Seahawks (3-1)

5. Houston Texans (3-1)

6. Buffalo Bills (3-1)

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)

8. Baltimore Ravens (2-2)

9. San Francisco 49ers (2-2)

10. Green Bay Packers (2-2)

Until further notice, the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs (4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS) are in the top spot; despite injuries and tough in-game situations, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have consistently gotten the job done and come out on top. The Vikings (4-0 SU, 4-0 ATS) are right behind them, however, and are the only team to beat the spread in all four weeks of the season. Sam Darnold is looking like an MVP candidate in that offense and their defense looks like the top unit in the entire NFL so far. The Lions and Seahawks, fresh off a Monday Night Football slugfest, come in at third and fourth, followed by the Texans, Bills and Buccaneers, who all enter at 3-1. Slow starts by the Ravens, 49ers and Packers haven’t forced them out of my Top 10, however. You can make the argument that any one of those teams could beat the Chiefs in a big game. I’ve been most impressed by the Vikings, Seahawks and Bills so far, in that order.

11. New Orleans Saints (2-2)

12. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2)

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1)

14. Atlanta Falcons (2-2)

15. Dallas Cowboys (2-2)

16. Washington Commanders (3-1)

17. New York Jets (2-2)

18. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2)

19. Indianapolis Colts (2-2)

20. Cincinnati Bengals (1-3)

A cluster of 2-2 teams are featured in this middle group with the Saints and Eagles leading the way. After getting off to a hot start offensively, the Saints have cooled down in back-to-back games while the Eagles have been dealt a bad hand with injuries early on, most notably to AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. Up next are the Steelers, who looked awesome defensively before looking fraudulent in a loss to the Colts and backup veteran QB Joe Flacco last week. Then come the confusing Falcons and Cowboys. I’m not yet sold on the Commanders, specifically on defense, which is why I have them ranked 16th despite Jayden Daniels’ amazing start. The Jets are up next because Aaron Rodgers looks his age and there’s something off with this roster. Jim Harbaugh isn’t enough for me to bump up a Chargers team that isn’t good on paper and then the Colts, who are dealing with another Anthony Richardson injury, and the Bengals, who I still believe in, round out this group. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase have looked good in back-to-back weeks and this team is definitely better than their 1-3 mark indicates.

21. Chicago Bears (2-2)

22. Cleveland Browns (1-3)

23. Arizona Cardinals (1-3)

24. Las Vegas Raiders (2-2)

25. New York Giants (1-3)

26. Los Angeles Rams (1-3)

27. Carolina Panthers (1-3)

28. Tennessee Titans (1-3)

29. New England Patriots (1-3)

30. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4)

Caleb Williams is going to take a little time to get acclimated to the pro game and that’s been obvious, which is why I have the Bears at 21 right now. Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron isn’t going to do that offense any favors and I’m simply not a believer despite all of their weapons. The Browns and Cardinals are off to slow starts, the Raiders are now dealing with locker room issues with Davante Adams and the Giants have shown some signs of hope at times, but have looked downright embarrassing at other times with the lone exception of Malik Nabers. The Rams are feeling the effects of losing Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, Andy Dalton is not going to save the Panthers’ season, Will Levis is likely going to lose his job in Tennessee, the Patriots aren’t going to let Drake Maye get destroyed due to a terrible offensive line and will therefore let Jacoby Brissett get hit all year and the Jaguars are a complete mess.
