Friday's NBA slate features several intriguing matchups, and with injuries opening up new opportunities for key players, there are some strong player props to target. Bam Adebayo should have a big game against a Raptors team lacking frontcourt depth, Amen Thompson continues to thrive in Fred VanVleet’s absence, and Kyrie Irving will be the focal point for a depleted Mavericks squad. Heat C Bam Adebayo Over 33.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists vs. Raptors (-110, BetMGM)
With Jakob Poeltl out, the Raptors will turn to Jonathan Mogbo and Orlando Robinson at the five against Adebayo, who just missed out on the All-Star Game. Averaging 16.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists on the season, Adebayo upped his scoring and rebounding to 23.0 points and 11.3 boards (19.0 rebounding chances) along with 4.3 assists (10.0 potential assists) in the month of February, personally benefitting from the absence of Jimmy Butler, who was traded away. With Tyler Herro questionable to play, Adebayo could be the focal point of Miami’s offense and should have another well-rounded output.
Rockets SF Amen Thompson Over 14.5 Rebounds + Assists vs. Timberwolves (-105, BetMGM)
Through eight games played in February, Thompson has taken advantage of his additional playing time in Fred VanVleet’s absence, registering 7.1 assists on 11.4 potential assists per game, both of which were team highs. Additionally, he has averaged 8.3 rebounds on 14.4 rebounding chances this month. Thompson had five dimes on nine potential helpers and three rebounds on seven rebounding chances against this Timberwolves team on February 6, a disappointing performance, considering that he has averaged 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 18 career games with VanVleet out. I expect him to impact the game in both stat categories.
Mavericks PG Kyrie Irving Over 25.5 Points vs. Pelicans (-110, BetMGM)
With Luka Doncic traded away and Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II and Caleb Martin all ruled out and Klay Thompson, PJ Washington and Dwight Powell all questionable, it’s going to be the Irving show against the Pelicans. Heading into the All-Star break, Irving dropped 30 points on 11-of-25 shooting and then 42 points on 15-of-25 shooting, so I expect some elite usage and volume to come our way once again, especially with all the injuries to his teammates.
