Heading toward the NFL trade deadline at the end of the month, the Patriots have a number of key needs and extremely limited cap space.
While that doesn’t necessarily create an ideal situation for the team to pursue midseason talent, CBS Sports reports that New England has been among the “most active teams” that have been “laying the framework for potential deals ahead of the October 29 deadline.”
CBS states that New England has shown particular interest with the Bengals in regards to All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Green or tight end Tyler Eifert.
“The Patriots have issues at the offensive line, tight end and receiver, and are expected to push for players like Bengals receiver A.J. Green and/or tight end Tyler Eifert; those players also appeal to the Saints, sources said, who made a real effort to land Denver's Emmanuel Sanders a year ago and likely would again,” CBS writes.
