The Honor Flight Network says its mandatory suspension of all trips to war memorials in Washington, D.C. will remain in place until at least Aug. 15, 2021.

And once those  trips resume all participants will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in an Honor Flight trip this year, a release states.

“We are implementing these precautions so we can continue to carry out our mission without forcing veterans to choose between their health and this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Dave Smith, Honor Flight board   chairman and president.

Honor Flight takes veterans from around the country to see the national memorials built in their honor. Any veterans’ groups traveling to Washington, D.C. prior to Aug. 15 are not part of the Honor Flight Network, the release adds.

The Honor Flight Network’s Board of Directors will continue to consult public health guidance before officially resuming trips and announcing final protocols. Veterans with questions about traveling with Honor Flight should contact their nearest Honor Flight Hub.
