Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Patrick Air Force Base have now been officially redesignated as U.S. Space Force bases.

Vice President Mike Pence made the announcement during a meeting of the National Space Council on Wednesday. According to Pence, the bases will be known as Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Patrick Space Force Base.

Patrick is also being considered as the site of the U.S. Space Command.

Chief of Space Operations for U.S. Space Force Gen. John “Jay” Raymond chimed in with a tweet of his own following the announcement.

Congress must still greenlight the renaming of the bases.
