Veterans Day events around Washington, including at Arlington and National Mall

The Washington D.C. area holds multiple events to honor Veterans Day and all those who have served our country.

There are so many ways to honor our military personnel for the sacrifices and commitment they have given to us and our country.

Around the nation, there are many events and ceremonies that will be occurring this Veterans Day to celebrate the greatness they have brought our country.

Here are just a few worth attending in the Washington D.C. area:

·     The 69th annual National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Friday, symbolizing the beauty and brevity of life. To learn more about the event, click here.

·     Women’s Memorial Veterans Day Observance: This event on Friday is free to the public and will include formal military honors, a keynote address, veterans’ remarks, and a wreath-laying at the entrance of the Arlington National Cemetery. For more information, click here.

·     The Vietnam Veterans Memorial will host an event Friday from 1-3 p.m. at The Wall. Click here for more information and to register.

·     The Korean War Veterans Memorial will hold a ceremony and wreath presentation on Friday to honor all veterans who served in the Korean War. For more details, click here.

·       The World War II Memorial will host a free Veterans Day Observance at the memorial site on Friday morning. The Friends of the National World War II Memorial and the National Park Service will co-host the ceremony to pay tribute and lay wreaths in honor of the more than 16 million men and women who served with the U.S. armed forces during World War II. ·     The National Museum of the United States Army in Fort Belvoir, Virginia is hosting three days of Veterans Day events from Friday through Sunday. ·     There will be a free Veterans Day concert at the MLK Jr. Memorial Library Friday afternoon courtesy of the National Museum of the United States Navy. For more information and to get a ticket, click here.

·     The Veterans History Project will host a Modern Warrior Live at the Library of Congress Thursday evening. The event is an immersive music and narrative experience that chronicles the story of U.S. Army veteran Jaymes Poling and his journey through deployments.
