The goal of the clinic is to improve veterans’ overall physical and mental health.

The sports rehab clinic will be returning for the first time in person since 2019 when COVID-19 occurred. In 2020-2021, the sports clinic was being held virtually.

The hands-on sporting event will bring more than 100 military veterans together from across the country with a range of disabilities such as polytrauma, traumatic brain injury, loss of a limb, and spinal cord injuries.

At the clinic, veterans will have the opportunity to learn sports such as surfing, sailing, cycling, kayaking, and adaptive fitness.

“Our goal is to motivate veterans with disabilities to find new ways to adapt,” said National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic Director, Maggie Kremer. “The clinic is a training ground to instill the value of an active lifestyle, aid in community integration, develop determination and build a strong foundation to explore what’s next.”

Although registration is closed for the upcoming event, for upcoming years, first-year applicants and veterans that have never attended another National Veterans  Sports Programs and Special Events clinic will be given priority registration.

Due to the large veteran population, veterans will only be eligible to attend the clinic for up to two years.

The National Veterans Summer Sports clinic works in collaboration with the host, the VA San Diego Healthcare System, and has numerous sponsors such as the Wounded Warrior Project, and Veterans Canteen Service among many others.
