Andrew McCutchen Giving Back To His Home With 'Project Pittsburgh'
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Andrew McCutchen may now be a member of the Philadelphia Phillies but his heart, home and family is in Pittsburgh.
To show it, the former league MVP is going above and beyond with a week of giving back.
The Project Pittsburgh Cutch Charity Week is November 16-23 and aims to “encourage volunteerism in the Pittsburgh area.”
Cutch, who is rehabbing from a torn ACL, joined The Fan Morning Show Thursday to talk about why he feels a need to give back and why he still calls Pittsburgh home.
“It's just a fact of us wanting to do something to the city that gave so much to the both of us and we have so much history here together so we wanted to be able to do something where we could volunteer or help in anyway and after just kind of throwing out some ideas we all came up with just having a week of . . . volunteering,” said McCutchen
Along with his wife Maria, McCutchen will be donated their time but Cutch says you’ll probably see him around more than his wife.

McCutchen says that baseball has given him the ability to give back and he feels a responsibility to volunteer his time when he can.
“Baseball was just . . . something that could help me be able to do other things outside of the game and make differences outside of the game,” said McCutchen. “If it wasn’t for people in the past like Roberto Clemente and so many other athletes and baseball players as well, they were the one that kind of showed the way of showing that you can be more than just a guy that plays the game, you can be good at that, great, but you can also make a difference and use the platform that you’re given.”
