Yosemite National Park's high-end lodge, the Ahwahnee Hotel, may have seen better days.

The landmark accommodations. which has hosted presidents and royalty, lost its four diamond rating from AAA .

After decades of getting the higher score, the hotel in the Yosemite Valley with views of Half Dome received only three diamonds in the most recent assessment from AAA.

Prices range from $400 to $1,000 in the historic property that opened in 1927.

As is its policy, AAA declined to comment further about the rating.

Managers at the Ahwahnee and the hotel's parent company, Aramark, did not respond to KCBS Radio's inquiries. However, they said elsewhere that nothing has changed for the worse in the premier hotel. Instead, they say that AAA has raised its criteria.

On sites like TripAdvisor, where users write about their experiences, some complained of long waits for shuttle buses and inferior cuisine in the Ahwahnee.
