Injuries and the coronavirus pandemic paused the usual game day events and activities at the brand new Chase Center.

But now, in the third year of the Warriors residency, the vision of Warriors owner Joe Lacob has finally come together, emphasizing that Chase Center is a dream come true for him and the championship-winning team. "This is seven years of work, so it took a long time," Lacob said on KCBS Radio's "Bay Current" on Monday. "It is what we imagined, and if anything this is better."

New spaces are still to be opened up at the arena.

"We have a park by the City of San Francisco that we hope to have in the next year," he said. "We also have a hotel that has been approved, and I'm dying to push the start button on that."

While the COVID-19 crisis has pushed back these developments in the last year, Lacob – who has a Master's Degree in Epidemiology from UC Irvine – said that his knowledge helped him understand the impact of the virus. "It did help, certainly relative to other entertainment businesses," he added.
