A Texas woman is facing a tragedy unlike most will ever suffer.
Charlotte Crawford is a 40-year employee with Parkland Hospital in Forney, Texas. She says that had she not gotten her COVID-19 vaccine in January, she knows she wouldn’t be alive today. Sadly, the virus took those closest to her.
Just a week after Crawford got her second vaccine dose, her son, daughter and husband started to become ill with the virus.
Her son Royce, aged 33, died after weeks in the ICU. Her daughter Natalia, 38, was also admitted, and came down with an aggressive infection in her lungs.
“My son died first. My husband died second and my daughter died after that,” Crawford said, according to CBS Los Angeles.
Crawford’s husband, Henry Royce got the virus while trying to care for their children, and later died from the disease.
Charlotte and Royce recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, according to a GoFundMe page set up as a memorial for the family.
But, instead of falling into an unending and understandable depression, Crawford says she is determined to help others get their Covid-19 vaccinations, and help save their lives.
“I would like everyone to hear me, especially the Black community and the Hispanic community. The only reason why I’m sitting here is because I got my shots. If I can help someone else to save themselves and their family, I want to do it. Once this disease gets in your house, you have no control over it,” she said.
