Friday morning, seven new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at Berkeley High School, according to an announcement by Berkeley Unified School District.

The cases were caught through the district’s regular testing program, and the individuals who tested positive are now quarantined at home.
At least five of these cases are a part of an outbreak at Berkeley High School. Six of the cases are related to the school’s athletics. Anyone with close contact with the individuals has been notified, and the rest of the school community has been notified as well.
In response to the outbreak, Berkeley Public Health has enacted additional testing measures for certain people, including both rapid antigen and PCR, for Friday as well as Monday.
Berkeley schools were not in session Friday, for unrelated reasons.
