
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – An unidentified person was struck and killed by a Capitol Corridor commuter train in Berkeley on Friday morning.

The fatal collision occurred at 6:52 a.m. near the South Aquatic Park parking lot, police said in a tweet. An Amtrak spokesperson said the regularly-scheduled train was headed from Sacramento to San Jose.
There were no reported injuries to the 13 passengers or crew.
"These incidents can affect everyone involved — those who are injured or die and their families, our train crews, and our passengers," Amtrak officials said in a statement to KCBS Radio. "They also serve as critical reminders about the importance of obeying the law and of exercising extreme caution around railroad tracks and crossings."
Amtrak police are investigating the incident.
