A Vietnamese couple from Oakland had "much of their life savings stolen" and home looted while they helplessly watched, tied up in front of their young daughter during a harrowing ordeal on Tuesday night.

Four men broke into the home through a back door window, as reported by KGO-TV. "They said if you do anything the first person I shoot will be your daughter," said Roseni, who didn’t want to be identified over fear of retaliation.

She told the station the alleged robbers tied her and her husband up, then punched him in the mouth before forcing their seven-year-old daughter, Amy, under a blanket and ransacking the home.

They went to every room in the house "leaving practically no item untouched."

But it wasn’t what the four men took that Roseni remembered, it was what one of the suspects allegedly whispered to her: "Don't worry we won't kill or rape you we just came here for the money. You know that COVID-19 right? We have no jobs, we have no money, that's what's making us do this."

The incident was one of four robberies along her street in recent months, Roseni added.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family.
