A San Rafael man is facing kidnapping and death threat charges after a doorbell ditch involving an 11-year-old boy allegedly went south in the North Bay last Friday.

San Rafael Police said the incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Friday when the boy and his friends were "ringing doorbells of houses and running away." The boy told officers the man chased him in a vehicle, yelled at him, grabbed him by the neck and forced him to the ground.

The man then allegedly forced the boy into his vehicle to drive him to his parents’ house, threatening to "put a bullet in his head" if he ever did it again.

The boy didn’t need medical attention following the altercation, but did show signs of redness on his neck.

The man, identified as 63-year-old Dean Taylor, later told officers the kids rang his doorbell "at least four times prior and he was fed up." He denied threatening to shoot the boy and grabbing him by the neck.

Taylor is reportedly a retired San Francisco Police officer.
