As Bay Area residents flock to the beach to take advantage of the February heat, weather experts warn of dangerous sneaker waves.
A Beach Hazards Statement was issued by the National Weather Service Wednesday cautioning beachgoers that sneaker waves, large breaking waves and rip currents are possible on Thursday.

West to Northwest beaches are impacted by the hazards statement, including Ocean Beach, Montara State Beach, Marina State Beach and Monastery Beach.
"Please keep you, your family, and pets a safe distance from the water if at the beach!" NWS urged in a tweet.
The hazards statement remains in effect from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Beachgoers are advised to stay off coastal jetties, keep an eye on children and pets and never turn their back to the ocean.
