Authorities have announced that a body discovered in a Napa river is believed to be a missing Napa woman.
In a Facebook post, police revealed that Napa sheriff's deputy James Baumgartner was patrolling the river Thursday when he came across a body near Third Street bridge.

The body appears to be Crystal McCarthy, a resident who has been missing since Dec. 14, but identification will not be confirmed until an autopsy is performed, police said.
McCarthy was last seen near the Napa River, upstream from where her body was found.
Until the autopsy, which is scheduled for next week, no further details regarding the cause of death or condition of the body will be revealed.
McCarthy's father, mother and boyfriend have been notified that the body recovered is McCarthy. Police noted that, unfortunately, spectators posted to social media ahead of official notifications.
