Firefighters have stopped forward progress of a grass fire initally reported to be spreading at a "dangerous rate" near San Jose on Monday afternoon, CAL FIRE officials said.
The fire, named the Silicon Fire, is near Silicon Valley Rd. and Basking Ridge and was called in at about 11:15 a.m. CAL FIRE said the fire has grown to 30 acres and was spreading quickly with at least one structure threatened. Wind is helping spread the flames, officials added.
It's estimated to be 80% contained.
Additional units, including helicopters, were called in.
They've since been released.
Crews remain at the scene checking for hotspots.
