SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – San Francisco Police are investigating at least two brawls at a popular mall in San Francisco involving dozens of young people last week.

Now there are calls for more of a police presence around the Stonestown Galleria.
The fights happened in the Stonestown food court and inside Target last Friday.
In both cases, young people appear to gang up on one person, repeatedly punching and kicking the victim even after they fall on the floor.
Shoppers have been disturbed by the videos posted on Instagram. But some are not surprised that these incidents have taken place at this location.
"I see kids run around, opening up toys, playing around like they're three years old," said Darius Harrus, one Target shopper. "But they come from high school and middle school."
It can be a bit too much for the employees to handle.
"Well, the private security at the mall are overwhelmed by the situation," said San Francisco Supervisor Joel Engardio, who represents the Outer Sunset.
According to Engardio, malls should be safe places for young people. He's calling for more cops to be able to respond to Stonestown.
"Police should be able to do foot patrols in business districts," he said. "And patrol shopping areas like the mall."
"But we have a severe staffing shortage of police in San Francisco," said Engardio.
The city is short more than 500 officers.
San Francisco Police are investigating but so far there's no word on a motive for the fights.
