Child drowns in Mountain View apartment pool

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Police are investigating a drowning which left a young boy dead at an apartment complex pool in Mountain View on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities received a call at approximately 4 p.m. on July 6 that a 9-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a pool at the 1800 block of Ednmary Way, according to a release. While en route to the scene, dispatchers provided CPR instructions to the caller and also applied life saving measures once they arrived.

The child was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.

"I am devastated about this case," Mountain View Police Chief Chris Hsiung said. "We are all thinking about the family tonight."

An investigation is ongoing. Detectives are working to "understand the circumstances around this tragic incident," officials said.
