
For some, using public transportation is a choice.
It can be the last means to get to a sporting event, a night out with friends, or merely a sporadic adventure.

But for many people, it is their only way to get to work, to school, and is the sole mode of transportation for their family and an unavoidable, day-to-day reality.
In New York City, more than half of the residents use public transit as their daily form of transportation. but public transportation is expensive to build and maintain, and current fares cover a portion of what it takes to maintain public transportation systems in the U.S.
