Fire crews continued to battle a 50 to 75-acre fire in North San Jose well into the early morning Wednesday.
The fire, dubbed the McCarthy Fire, broke out near the Cisco campus in North San Jose Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out along Mill River Lane near Coyote Creek, and the San Jose Fire Department said it's now contained in the area between the two. There were still no reported injuries as of Tuesday night, while the fire's cause remained unknown.
Residents on Mill River Lane were advised to shelter-in-place, while others further from the fire had to contend with lower air quality due to the fire. Fire officials encouraged people to close their windows to protect from the smoke.

No freeway closures were ordered, according to KCBS Radio's Kim Vestal. Nearby surface streets were shut down Tuesday afternoon.
According to reporting by KPIX, the fire never jumped the levee, and no one was evacuated.
“It’s just difficult access. Access with water supplies and then actually making access in,” said San Jose Battalion Chief Robert Herrera.
In addition to the fire units from SJFD and Milpitas Fire Department, Cal Fire also sent a truck and hand unit to assist with the fire.
