An officer-involved shooting in Danville remains under investigation after a man allegedly pulled a knife on a responding officer and refused to drop it.

According to a news release late Thursday from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department, the incident happened just before 12 p.m. when Danville Police were called to a report of someone throwing rocks from the Sycamore Valley Rd. overpass onto I-680. When officers arrived at Sycamore Valley Rd. and Camino Ramon, police said the unidentified suspect pulled a knife.

Police said the officer approached the man, who was standing in the street and tried to speak with him. That's when he allegedly pulled the knife, opened it and refused to drop it, leading the officer to shoot him.

"The officer ordered him to drop the knife several times," police said.
