Dog stolen in Oakland from disabled owner's parked car

A disabled man is distraught after his beloved dog Cocoa was stolen from his parked car in Oakland.

Cocoa, a 7-year-old Shetland Sheepdog Pomeranian mix, was taken on Tuesday at around 2:30 p.m. when the owner parked his car at Broadway and Piedmont Avenue outside of a Honda dealership, KTVU reported.

Ralph Margado, the owner's son, provided surveillance footage to the station showing a suspect reaching into his dad's parked car.

"My father is handicapped in a wheelchair and just distraught over the entire scene because it was his dog," Margado said to the station.

He is hoping someone will come forward with information.

KCBS Radio has reached out to the Oakland Police Department regarding the dognapping, but the department was unable to comment or provide additional details at this time.
