East Bay man arrested after police find bomb materials, device in apartment

A 27-year-old East Bay man has been arrested after an explosive device and bomb-making materials were found in his apartment, the Pleasant Hill Police Department reported.

At around 3 p.m. on Friday, authorities executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence on the 300 block of Longbrook Way. During the search, authorities found explosive materials and an explosive device and arrested the man. He is now being held at the county jail.

Pleasant Hill police were assisted in the investigation by Contra Costa County Hazmat along with ConFire Hazmat and the FBI.

Multiple residents were ordered to evacuate the apartment complex, but the order has since been lifted.

The 27-year-old was originally investigated due to a string of vandalism incidents. His identity has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
